Yoga with Kids
Yoga with Kids
I am currently on maternity leave but watch this space as plans are forming for some lovely kids yoga offerings here on St Mary’s!
I see it as an essential part of our children’s holistic education, to ensure that they have the chance to build strength, resilience, compassion and self-knowledge within their own unique physical and emotional experiences of life.
Yoga with kids and young people is all about having loads of fun with movement; I use adventure stories, games, partner yoga and breathing and mindfulness techniques to allow children, from pre-school age right through to teenagers, to discover and enjoy all the wonderful benefits of yoga for our bodies and minds*.
The classes are fun and inclusive, helping with physical development and teaching key mindfulness techniques plus many of the games involve patience, team work and leadership skills - an added bonus to learning yoga from a young age!
*I am a fully qualified teacher of yoga for children and young people, DBS checked, insured and have completed my safeguarding training.
Yoga for every age and stage.
Pre-school Yoga
Of course, yoga with little people of this age is less about holding poses and more about having fun with movement - of all kinds!
Whether we’re telling an adventure story with movements to match our words, or acting like enormous elephants, we’re definitely having a lot of fun and giggles with our tiny little yogis.
Age 5-8 Years
This age really is the pivotal moment to keep children engaged with how their bodies and minds can work together. We move on from adventure stories to focus on yoga games, learning team work and listening skills, whilst still having loads of fun with movement.
They’re starting to explore their independence and their sense of self, so let’s give them all the tools they need to experience life with ease.
Age 8-11 Years
What an exciting (and sometimes challenging) time it is in our children’s lives, as they begin to shake off a few more of the strings of childhood and move toward adolescence.
Let’s help them to build resilience, strength and ease in their bodies and minds through a yoga practice that puts their needs at its heart, whilst still tapping into their playfulness.
